Good afternoon, this is Warner’s Principal, Amy Kwon with an important message.
I want to inform you about a serious situation that has occurred at Warner Middle School. This morning we received an anonymous tip that a Warner student may have brought a gun to school. The Westminster Police Department was immediately called and they have confirmed that a student brought a handgun to school on Monday. He did not have the weapon with him today. The student who brought the weapon to school has been removed from the school and will not return. The police investigation is ongoing but they do not believe that any threat exists at this time. I would like to sincerely thank the people that came forward with the tip as it it is evidence that the policy of “If you see something, say something,” works! The partnership and support that we have with our local law enforcement and school community is critical and reporting any unusual or suspicious activity is the best deterrent to potentially harmful situations.
The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. Nothing is more important to me and our school district than the safety of our students. I understand how vital it is for the school to do everything it can to care for the students, families and employees who put their trust in us. We appreciate the swift manner in which the police and our staff handled this situation.
