Videography
In the captivating Videography elective, students immerse themselves in the dynamic realm of visual storytelling, gaining hands-on experience in the intricate art of movie-making. Through a comprehensive curriculum, participants explore every facet of the filmmaking process, from conceptualizing and scripting to mastering the technical intricacies of cinematography, lighting, and editing. Guided by experienced instructors, students collaborate to produce their own short films, channeling their creativity and vision into cinematic masterpieces that reflect their unique perspectives. A highlight of the course is the opportunity for students to showcase their talents on a larger stage by competing in prestigious Orange County Film competitions, where they can exhibit their storytelling prowess and technical expertise to a wider audience. This elective not only nurtures a deep appreciation for the art of filmmaking but also empowers students to become skilled and visionary storytellers capable of captivating audiences with their compelling narratives and innovative techniques.

Videography students earn Honorable Mentions
Each year, our Videography class students take part in promoting mental health awareness by participating in the Orange County Department of Education’s DirectingChange contest. This contest also comprises participation from schools across all of California, including San Diego, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and more. Judges include actors and filmmakers from the industry, as well as other cinemaphiles. Approximately 1,000 videos are judged.
The contest includes 17 different focus areas, of which one is “Walk in Our Shoes” for middle school students. The focus of our students’ videos was for the section entitled “Empathy”. There are prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and 13 Honorable Mentions.
